We got married, now we have to start a blog.

Jimmy and I have been married for a grand total of 6 months, 25 days, and 16 hours.  It has taken us this long to start a blog mainly because I was reluctant; to me, our lives weren't exciting enough to document.  But I've recently come to the conclusion that writing my thoughts down might be therapeutic.  So here we are.

In the last several months, Jimmy and I have had some big changes in our lives.  The first and foremost obviously, was getting married.  Since the first time we met, Jimmy and my relationship has gone from acquaintances (he was the scary boy in my ward), to friends (I discovered he was funny), to dating, to seriously dating, to breaking up, to me begging him to date me again, to casually speaking again, to dating, to getting engaged, to being married.  I guess we didn't take the most direct route.  But we're glad we have ended up here, despite the emotional roller coaster.  We have definitely received our fair share of criticism for being so indecisive, OK I was the indecisive one.  But it all worked out OK! Get off my case! :)  To be honest, I think that breaking up helped me realize how much I appreciate him. I hate admitting that we had to break up for me to realize how great he is, but I guess I'm a dunce.

Our Wedding-  Our wedding was the most bomb wedding we've ever been the bride and groom for.  We are so thankful for all the love, support, and hard work our friends and families did for us.  Though it didn't go exactly as planned, it was a beautiful experience.  In fact, I usually prefer hearing about aspects in people's lives that aren't perfect more than hearing about things that are.  Maybe this makes me a bad person.  But I'd rather believe that I like hearing about the bad because it makes it easier for us, as human beings, to relate to one another.  Nobody has a perfect life.  When we admit this to ourselves, I think we are more able to empathize with others, become less critical of our own shortcomings and the shortcomings of others, and ultimately become a happier person.  So here are the good AND the bad of our wedding! (Don't worry, I labeled them appropriately for your convenience)

1. Almost all of our friends and family were there: good
2. The heat made everyone look miserable in the pictures: bad
3. The front half of our wedding invitations came in the mail beautifully, but the back half turned out to be an advertisement for some pest control company in Louisiana.  Yes, the printer company sent us the wrong order 2.5 weeks before the wedding: bad.
4. The back half of the invitations got shipped overnight, we got them out in time, and I LOVED them.  Plus we have a great story: good.
5. The sealer accidentally called Jimmy, "Alex," so apparently I was supposed to marry an Alex. Oops!: bad (That was a joke)
6. Getting married in 2010: good (It'll make it easy to calculate how many years we've been married)
7. Our car was decorated with dozens of "certain male body parts": you would think this is bad, but I will label it good since Jimmy and I had such a good laugh right before we washed it off.
8. Somehow, the wedding party (same group that "decorated" our car) got to the car keys and so they drew several of these "certain male body parts" on the INSIDE of the car.  We didn't find this until October: bad and good.
9. Our photographer was so cool: good
10. At least to us, the reception and open house were a blast: good
11. The sealer gave us some of the most beautiful council I've ever heard: good

Ultimately, the good definitely outweighed the bad, and we both loved our wedding.  Even though things didn't go exactly as we would have hoped, I'm glad they didn't.  The bad helped us appreciate the good, plus we have some pretty funny stories we can laugh about later.

  6. I just found your blog through Scott and Amee's! I love it when my friends have blogs so I can feel like we're all keeping in touch. Oh Jimmy, I love the quote "he was the scary boy in my ward". So happy for you both and I look forward to reading about your adventures. - Kimberly :)
