My dear Mother is a 5th grade school teacher. When Jimmy and I were getting married, one of the assignments that she gave to her students was to write a letter of advice to the newlyweds.
Us.
Us.
We love them.
I just found them again today, and we re-read them and had a good laugh.
Here were a few of our favorites.
(Written just how we read them. Perfectly)
Letter #1:
Dear Newlyweds,
Hello, my name is _______. here are some things you need to know about marriage. First you need to know about spending money wisely. Then you need to learn about travels.
lets learn about spending money wisely. The first lesson is on debt. Do not spend money you don't have. The second lesson is on bill$$. Save money for paying bill$$. The money left over from paying bill$$ and debt is fun money. Spend it wisely, it goes fast.
Now let's cover the importance of travel. First, go places you want to go to that have low hotel prices. Then before you go plan each day care fully because vacation time flies fast. Tip: travel before kids are born.
Now you have mastered the art of marriage. Hope your marriage goes well.
Sincerely,
_______

Letter #2:
Dear Jimmy,
Congratulations! I bet your wedding was terrific! I'm writing to you about what to do and what not to do. :)
What you should definitely not do is disgusting things like leave the bathroom door open or leave dirty cereal bowls because milk sticks!
Now what you should do. Take Haylee out to a fancy resturant or something. Rent a movie and cuddle up with popcorn. Mmmm popcorn!
Another thing that is really important is, don't spend too much money on things you don't need. Like if you see that really cool jersey that has your favorite team on it, but it costs $75, don't buy it. Only buy it on special ocasions.
Sooooooo, those are my does and don'ts.
Sincerely,
_________
Letter #3:
Dear Haylee and Jimmy,
This is ________ in Ms Isaacson's class. She wanted us to give you advice on your marriage. The first thing is allways do what your wife says and get her whatever she want's because when my mom want's something and my dad doesn't get it for her she getts mad.
What I wrote up there was for Jimmy and this is to Haylee. Always be nice to Jimmy or he won't get whatever you want. Only when you don't want anything be mean.
You should love and trust in each other and always be there for each other. Always back each other up. The last thing is care for eachother's feelings. You guys should discuss everything and communicate with eachother. Also respect eachother. And never lie to eachother.
The last thing is never have kids unless you want to because kids are annoying. But that's your risk and remember Jimmy always get Haylee whatever she want's and Haylee never be meant to him unless you don't want anything but you shouldn't be mean to him.
Sincerely,
____________
Letter #4:
Dear Haylee and Jimmy,
Congratulations! I'm ________ (Mrs. Isaacson's #1 student), and I'm writing this letter to give you some good advise about marriage.
I think a married couple should communicate. If you get ina fight try to talk it out. A divorce is nver the answer.
A married couple should spend their money wisely. Don't spend it on unnecesary things. Only spend it for needed thing, food!
Now forthe most important thing. You should have fun together! Every once in a while you should go to new places. Travel.
I hope this letter will help you through tough times. I wish you the best.
Sincerely,
_____________
They say that you learn everything you need to know about life in elementary school.
After reading these adorable letters, I'd have to agree.
(Well except for the" never have kids" part. That was kind of ironic though right? Ha)

Those are absolutely precious. I hope they remember their own advice in a few years!
